The sunrise was lovely as this amateur photographer, web designer and lover of Bichon Frise dogs
left Symphony Hill, Tennessee for the 2006 Bichon Frise National Specialty Show in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

None of my Bichons could accompany me this trip, but my little furry buddy Fuzz came along for the ride.

Saying good-bye to the last mountain in Tennessee before crossing the border into Virginia

Even the phone booths in Virginia
are adorned with the lovely
cardinal & dogwood blossoms.

The mountains that lie both sides of I-81 in Virginia are so pretty!

The better part of the 300+ miles of I-81 in Virginia is surrounded by gentle rolling hills
with mountains off in the distance.

and magnificent red poppies in full blossom!!

Did someone doubt that the soil is red in the South?
This soil in Lexington, VA is the reddest I've ever seen.

As I drove along Rt 11, my eyes were delighted with this rolling Virginia horse farm

After leaving the glory of Virginia
one drives a few quick miles in WVa, then
crosses the border into Maryland.

And just a very few minutes later,
pops into Pennsylvania.
I parked my van in Lancaster.. and was immediately passed
by a common mode of Amish transportation.

And these horses grazed contentedly right beside a very large restaurant
in the city of Lancaster.

Time to enjoy this pony taking a dip before heading to the
Bichon Frise Specialty show at the
Lancaster Host Resort
(currently being renovated :)

Saturday morning, May 6, back on the road - nearly 600 miles to cover today ....

... but what magnificent beauty to enjoy along the way!!!

I think this is wild mustard

The mountains are so soothing after a busy week inside a hotel.

Virginia's I-81 corridor is one of my favorites in all the U.S.

And back home in Tennessee!!

|No matter where I travel, I always enjoy seeing our little Tennessee log cabin welcome centers

Back at Symphony Hill, I was kissed and licked
by all our rescued Bichons, and Bichon Rescue foster fluffs ....

Very dirty and unkept Tiger & Bungee enjoying the late afternoon shade on the patio.
WAIT 'TIL I GET THEM IN THE TUB!!
That's Cherokee Lake in the distance. Southeast USA Bichon Bash is held in our field each year.

Shocking but true ... my own Symphony Hill Bichons are currently all unbrushed and dirty
from a week of playing around the farm while I was away, but they are happy and healthy ....
and I couldn't love them anymore than if they were clean! LOL
I have plenty of Bichon Bubbles .. so it's off to the grooming tub for us.

Thank you - I do hope you have enjoyed sharing my journey
to the 2006 Bichon Frise National Specialty
